| I need to replace my existing site and use the same domain name If you have a website that people are already visiting, you probably don't want it to appear half finished or under construction while populaing your new one. This is a very common occurance and is accomplished by building your site under a placeholder domain name. Once your site is finished, visitors will be able to reach your new site with your current address . For example, if your current URL is www.mycompany.org, and you choose www.mycompany.com as your placeholder URL on which to build your new site, visitors will be able to reach your site by typing either address.
You'll need to attached a Windows based hosting account that supports ASP.net and SQL server to your placeholder URL on which to install the software and set up the site's databases. Once your new site is built, you can cancel the hosting account tied to your old website. |
